The earth is calling on us to shift our practices.

Today’s large-scale agricultural systems were built for speed and efficiency, prioritizing yield and profit over the health of our landscapes, our farmers, and our families.

Over time, ecosystems have been degraded, farmers have been placed under immense pressure, and communities have become sick– all shaped by disconnection from the source of our food.

We see the path toward healing: a future rooted in regenerative practices that centers the health of our communities and the environments we live in.

Farmer’s Footprint exists to illuminate this path, opening hearts and minds to possibility. We hold space for nuance, complexity, and creativity, bridging science with the timeless wisdom of land and people that has always guided life in relationship with the Earth.

We have the power to shift away from destructive systems. Our everyday choices can help create a regenerative future where farmers are supported to grow nutrient-rich food that nourishes our bodies, the land, and all life on Earth.

Meet the Team

Our team spans continents, disciplines, and lived experiences, yet we are united by a shared commitment to regeneration. From storytelling and science to community building and advocacy, each of us brings a distinct perspective shaped by where we come from and the landscapes that have shaped us. Together, we steward this work with care, collaboration, and a deep belief in what becomes possible when women lead with purpose.

Our origin story

Farmer’s Footprint emerged from a simple, powerful truth: human health and soil health are inseparable.

In seeking to understand the rising health issues in the United States, Zach Bush, MD, a triple board certified physician and researcher, began tracing the links between chronic disease, pesticide exposure, and the land herself.

What he found was both a moment of reckoning and a source of hope: A clear call to shift away from industrial agricultural systems that harm, and embrace regenerative systems that heal.

In 2019, Project Biome, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization weaving regenerative systems at a global scale, launched its storytelling initiative, Farmer’s Footprint, to help the greater public understand the potential of land-based systems to better support the health of the Earth and our communities.

Farmer’s Footprint’s first project was the award-winning film, Regeneration: The Beginning, an uplifting story of a family farm transitioning their chemical-dependent operation toward regenerative solutions.

Since the film’s release in 2019, Farmer’s Footprint has created space to learn, helping people understand their role in shaping our food and agricultural systems, and offering meaningful pathways to take action in the larger movement for change.

Farmer’s Footprint and Project Biome work in partnership to turn awareness into action - creating clear pathways towards global systems change and inviting people everywhere to take part in the shared work of regeneration.

The values that guide the way we show up and create change.

Progress Over Perfection

We believe change begins by meeting people where they’re at. Farmer’s Footprint creates space for learning and growth, offering approachable entry points and pathways  for people to advocate for the movement, connect with others, and deepen their understanding over time.

Centering Relationships

We believe movements grow through relationships. Agricultural systems, community, and culture are deeply connected. Farmer’s Footprint bridges the gaps between people, places, and ideas, so healthy solutions can emerge through care and collaboration.

Hope, Grounded in Action

While we acknowledge the challenges we face together, we focus on the science and stories of regeneration already unfolding. In doing so, we help turn overwhelm into possibility and invite people into meaningful, collective action.

Honoring Ancestral Wisdom

Regeneration is a remembering. Farmer’s Footprint honors the knowledge of original land stewards and their ancestral traditions, approaching this work with deep respect and responsibility. We recognize Earth as Mother - the source to which we all belong - and understand that the healing of land and people is inseparable from remembering that shared relationship.
